Over the summer we upgraded the library's inventory and security system to RFID (radio frequency identification). This will allow us to check materials in and out with greater efficiency and privacy and help us keep better track of items that may be misplaced. Come try out our new self check-out kiosk at the circulation desk.
This was made possible by the herculean efforts of our summer crew, retagging all 60,000+ of our print books and DVDs to make the new system work. Thank you, Annabel, Paula, and our student workers!
Please encourage your students to consult the Subject Guide for your discipline on the library website for the best available resources for each field of study. We now have a Subject Guide for every discipline taught at JBU. These can be found on the library webpage by selecting the Research button and then finding your subject of interest from the list. You will almost always find more relevant, higher quality resources for your assignments using the links on the relevant Subject Guide than just using the "Quick Search" bar on the library home page.
We also offer course-specific guides for a growing number of classes. Faculty, please contact your liaison librarian to request a guide for your class.
We have replaced our print subscriptions to The New York Times, Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Siloam Springs Herald-Leader with digital access through the NYTimes website and NewsBank respectively. NewsBank also includes access to newspapers and magazines from across the country. The Times includes access to New York Times Magazine, New York Times Audio, and archival issues back to 1851 (alas, it does not include the daily crossword puzzle).
Both products offer email notifications that you can use to keep up with the topics that interest you through updates delivered directly to your inbox.
New users must first register for a free account to access the full site including archives.
The library has two new board game tables in the lounge area behind the research help desk, and we have expanded our selection of table top games available for check out.
The game tables can be reserved using the study room reservation link available through Eaglenet or by contacting the circulation desk. When not reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
JBU students age 18 and older are eligible for cards from the Siloam Springs Public Library, located 1.5 miles from campus in downtown Siloam Springs. You can find current popular materials for all ages through SSPL, including downloadable ebooks and audiobooks. We will be hosting public library card sign up events in September.
