Adding JBU Resources to Google Scholar

Many JBU Library resources are accessible through Google Scholar.  Articles that are licensed by the JBU Library will have a link next to them that says “Available Online at JBU.” 

Clicking that link will take you to a list of full-text options in the Library’s WorldCat Discovery system. Using this option will ensure that you are accessing the “best copy” (i.e., final published version) of a given work. It will also provide you with free access to content that may be hidden behind a paywall if you try to reach it through the publisher's website.

If you are searching on campus, Google Scholar will automatically identify those resources available through the JBU Library.  If you are working off campus, you will need to add the JBU Library as a linked library before being able to access JBU resources. 

To add JBU Library to your Google Scholar account do the following:

  1. Click on Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the page.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Library links.
  4. In the search box, enter “John Brown University.”
  5. Check the box next to “John Brown University – Available Online at JBU” in the result list.
  6. Click Save.

You will now be able to access JBU resources. You will be prompted to enter your JBU username and password when accessing resources from off campus.

Please note: Many, but not all, library resources are available through Google Scholar. Articles from some of our major discipline-specific databases that use the EBSCOhost platform (e.g. Atla Religion Database, Business Source Elite, APA PsycInfo) will not be linked in your Google Scholar results, so if you are working in a discipline covered by one of these databases, you may be able to find the full text of articles that you identify through Google Scholar by repeating your search in the appropriate library database.

When you discover articles through Google Scholar that are not available in full text, or are only available for purchase or rent from the publisher, you can use ILLiad to request a copy through interlibrary loan at no cost to you.
