Services for Community Borrowers

Welcome

No registration is required for community members to visit the JBU Library and use our resources in person. To check out books, you will need to register for a library card. A JBU General Patron card is only good for checking out physical books and DVDs; it does not provide access to library digital materials. See Computer Resources for more information.

Eligibility

General Patron cards are available to community members who do not attend or work for JBU. To qualify for a card, a prospective patron must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide documentation of their name and current mailing address
  • Provide valid email address and phone number
  • Not have any outstanding overdue books or unpaid library fees

To register for a card, request an application at the circulation desk during library hours of operation. There is no fee to request a card, but borrowers are responsible for all fees for lost or damaged library materials. Borrowing privileges are subject to suspension for unpaid fees or disruptive behavior. Cards can be renewed annually.

Applicants presenting ARKLink Cards or Reciprocal Borrowing Forms from one of our partner institutions will be issued General Patron cards to use at JBU.
