Checkout Periods and Limits for JBU Students

Students

  • Books:  Up to 20 books for 21 days
  • Juvenile Books:  Up to 7 books for 21 days
  • Reserve Books:  Up to 3 books for 3 hours; must remain in the library
  • DVDs:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Games:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Reference Books: Non-circulating; in-library use only
  • Periodicals:  Non-circulating; in-library use only

Staff and Adjunct Faculty

  • Books:  Up to 10 books for 21 days   
  • Juvenile Books:  Up to 7 books for 21 days
  • Reserve Books:  Up to 3 books for 3 hours; must remain in the library
  • DVDs:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Games:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Reference Books: Non-circulating; in-library use only
  • Periodicals:  Non-circulating; in-library use only

Checkout Periods and Limits for JBU Faculty

Faculty

  • Books:  No limit; due at the end of each semester
  • Juvenile Books: Up to 7 books for 21 days
  • Reserve Books:  Up to 3 books for 24 hours  
  • DVDs: Film Library – Up to 2 for 7 days; Academic Video – No limit; due at the end of each semester
  • Games:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Reference Books:  Can be borrowed for 24 hours
  • Periodicals:  Can be borrowed for 2 weeks; contact Paula Phillips to request journal routing through campus mail.

Checkout Periods and Limits for Community Borrowers

Community Borrowers 

  • Books:  Up to 7 books for 21 days (some categories may have lower limits)
  • DVDs:  Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Games: Up to 2 for 7 days
  • Reserve Books:  Not available to General Patrons
  • Reference Books: Non-circulating; in-library use only
  • Periodicals:  Non-circulating; in-library use only

Renewals

Items can be renewed up to 2 times if there is not a hold for another user. You can renew your books online by logging into your account in the library catalog with your JBU username and password (see more detailed instructions here), or call or email the library (479-524-7202; Library@jbu.edu). 

Interlibrary loan book renewability is subject to the policy of the lending library and will be clearly displayed on the book band for your borrowed book.
